Appearance

PRiMO COBOL is a yellow robot with a design reminiscent of a retro kitchen timer. Its lower body features a dark green semi-circle with a red letter “C” in the center. PRiMO COBOL has short black arms ending in red ball-like hands that resemble boxing gloves. Its face is set within a white circular area bordered by an orange frame. Just like every other character from planet Primo, he has a heart-shaped tail. PRiMO COBOL is notably shorter than the other main characters, a detail reflected in the toy version, which stands at just 14 cm tall.

Setting

A robot about 5 years old who lives in Korokoro Valley on the planet Primo.
He was created by a human grandfather. Though he’s a robot, his heart-shaped tail proves he’s from Primo just like PRiMOPUeL. He is passionate, earnest, brave and caring towards his friends, but he is also a bit absent-minded and often makes mistakes when he gets too enthusiastic. He and PRiMOPUeL share a strong bond of friendship and are ‘bound together by a friendship between men.’ His favorite thing is opposite words. His least favorite thing is water. His favorite place is Somerset Hill in Korokoro Valley.

Going out PRiMOPUeL PRiMO COBOL

On September 9, 2000, a small, portable PRiMOPUeL was released under the name KOPUeL.
The following year, on April 28, 2001 , the robot version of the portable KOPUeL doll called “PRiMO COBOL” was released along with the girl version of KOPUel “PRiMO COROLa”.

Like KOPUeL, PRiMO COBOL contain six communication points throughout their body.
They react to being held, walked with (via a vibration sensor), and change in temperature.

All three characters—KOPUeL, PRiMO COROLa, and PRiMO COBOL—can talk to each other using the “KOPU Talk” communication feature. They can exchange more than 300 unique words and songs, including ones based on their surroundings.

They say lines like:
“We’re best buddies!” (PRiMO COBOL)

Any combination of KOPUeL, COROLa, and COBOL can communicate, regardless of the version of KOPUeL.

Trivia

PRiMO COBOL is the only portable character that is treated like a member of the main cast, often seen in artwork with PRiMOPUeL, PRiMOPUeLa, and PRiMO TEDDY.

PRiMO COBOL as well as PRiMOPUeL and PRiMOPUeLa were serialized in Shogakukan’s magazines “Ciao” and “Shougaku 4-nensei”. Because of this, the characters cameo in several different pieces of Furoku including trading cards and sticker flakes.

Out of the main cast, PRiMO COBOL is the rarest to find secondhand.
